The Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute (CZMAI), under the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, invites you to participate in the selection of a name for the Belize Marine Spatial Plan (MSP)!
In November 2021, the Government of Belize signed the Blue Loan Agreement and Conservation Funding Agreement with the Belize Blue Investment Company and The Nature Conservancy. This innovative financing mechanism enabled Belize to reduce its debt burden and increase its investment in marine conservation over the next 20 years. CZMAI is the lead agency designated by the Government of Belize for the delivery of the MSP.
One of Belize’s principal commitments under the Agreement is to complete a legally enforceable Marine Spatial Plan (MSP) to govern the sustainable use and conservation of Belize’s ocean. This Belize MSP will provide government, local communities and marine sectors with a transparent, equitable, and participatory process for ensuring that Belize will continue to receive the benefits and services that a healthy ocean can provide.
Kindly vote for the name which best captures the purpose and importance of this MSP process. The name with the highest votes will become the official name of the Belize MSP.
